At Browns KItchen, our cooking classes go beyond just teaching you a recipe. Our  chefs are passionate about getting you involved in the cooking process, further inspiring you to strengthen your skills in the kitchen. With a wide array of classes from bread making to sharpening your knife skills, we’ve got endless possibilities to choose from.  Our classes range from demonstration style to hands-on.  

COOKING BASICS

Join us April 8th for the cooking class that covers the best of the basics! The first half of the class will be dedicated to sauces that every home cook should have in their back pocket. Chef Ceci will be covering the classic hollandaise, bearnaise, and piccata sauces. The second half of the class will be dedicated to one dish that incorporates the best techniques for any home cook to master. While cooking up a pork tenderloin with potatoes and green beans, she will show you how to pan sear, blanch, roast, caramelize onions, and make a pan sauce!

Brunch Basics

Join us April 17th for a brunch focused class complete with mimosas! With Mother's and Father's Day right around the corner, these are the perfect brunch items to make for Mom, Dad, Grandparents, or on a Sunday just because! Chefs Ceci and Autumn will be co-teaching the class to bring you both savory and sweet options. The class will cover a unique twist with some short cuts to make the classic eggs benedict, a homemade quiche with homemade crust, and the always popular homemade cinnamon rolls.

Gnocchi, the soft pillowy Italian version of dumplings. This amazing little ball of dough can be tricky, but with Chef Ceci’s help, you will be able to impress all your friends and family. She will show you 3 different types of gnocchi, different ways to form them, and different sauces to serve them with!  While this class may not be fully hands on, participants will have the opportunity to come up and try their hand at gnocchi making!

Whether its Cinco de Mayo or just a Tuesday, these recipes will add to any fiesta and change up your same old go to’s. Join Chef Ceci to learn how to bring some great classic flavors to the table with some easy home short cuts!! She’ll start you off with some classic apps, think chips, salsa, and queso but better! Then finish with some deliciously easy empanadas and tamales. And of course there will be margaritas!

Have you ever wondered how in the world to properly use egg whites in a cocktail and why? Or how can I perfect my classic Old Fashioned? If you answered yes to either of these questions, this is the class for you! Join Jean Paul, expert mixologist, to learn the process and reasoning behind the classic Gin Fizz and Old Fashioned. You will also get to learn two of his own cocktail creations utilizing gin and bourbon as well! In this class you will get to have modified portions of each cocktail while snacking on some delicious meat and cheese plates. This is the perfect Saturday happy hour class!

FOOD & WINE PAIRING 101

Do you struggle with knowing what wine to drink with your meals?  Do you find yourself defaulting to “red wine with red meat” and “white wine with fish and chicken”?  If you answered yes to either of these questions, then this is the class for you! Pairing wines isn’t as difficult as it seems.  In this class, local wine enthusiasts, Jen Hinson and Velva Knapp will teach you basic pairing principles that will help you successfully pair wine every time.  Join us for wine, small plate pairings, and fun!

PIES &TARTS CLASS

Join us on May 22nd to learn the fundamentals of pie and tart baking! Autumn will show you how to make the perfect crust and finally say goodbye to soggy bottoms and burnt edges. She will also show you how to make the delicious fillings to go along with it. You will leave this class with a new set of skills and a yummy treat!

BUBBLES & BITES

Join us May 27th for a Champagne and Tapas pairing. Velva will be highlighting Italian, French, and American bubbles. She will be talking us through all their characteristics, flavor profiles, and histories. To accompany these lovely spirits, Chef Ceci will be preparing tapas inspired by each bottle. By the end of class, you will be prepared to host family and friends with great knowledge of the bubbles and maybe a new array of appetizers!

COOKIE DECORATING

Join us May 29th for cookie decorating! In this class you will learn how to make, bake, and decorate classic royal icing sugar cookies. Each person will have 4 blank cookies to learn and practice how to apply royal icing. By the end of class, you will leave with a new set of skills and some delicious cookies! You will also get to take home a 4-piece piping kit.

Chef Ceci is going to show you 2 one dish meals, and one that takes a few more dishes but is kid approved and sneaks in a full serving of veggies! GREEK CLASSICS

Join Chef Ceci to learn 2 delicious and classic Greek dishes, Keftedes and Moussaka. Chef Ceci’s goal is to walk you through all the steps and preparation of these great dishes. While they are a labor of love, the flavors are worth the work! If you have never heard of Moussaka, it is a hearty Greek style lasagna, layered with breaded eggplant, sliced potatoes, meat sauce, and bechamel. And Keftedes may sound wild, but they are incredibly flavorful and lightly fried meatballs. If you’ve ever watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding and thought those sound so good, this is the class for you!
